Dayhome Information
Thank you for your interest in joining my dayhome!
It is an honour and a pleasure to be a part of molding children into confident and energetic youth.
ENVIRONMENT
The children of Lil Ladybugs Dayhome are provided a warm, secure environment and are encouraged to grow and develop at their own pace. I offer structured activities like arts & crafts and storytime but also allow the children to nurture their own confidence and learning through supervised free play.
Outdoor play is very important to me so your child(ren) will be taken outside every day (weather permitting). My home has a safe and secure back yard where the children will be given the opportunity to run through the sprinkler, build a snowman, or invent their own games. We are also within a short walk to 3 different parks with open green spaces to foster their need for adventure.
The children will be given access to the entire home while in my care. The majority of our time will be spent on the main floor where there is a dedicated playroom, meal space and lots of sunshine. Naps and quiet time will take place in the finished basement. I want to create a true home away from home environment.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
Parents are welcome to visit their children at any time throughout the day. The door will be locked for safety reasons so a light knock or ring of the doorbell is required. Parents are also welcome to call or text at any time.
NATURAL HEALTH
I use Young Living Essential Oils in my home to support immunity, clean and purify the air, as well as promote the best emotional and physical health for myself and the children. I also use Young Living chemical-free cleaning products and often make my own to ensure the purest ingredients.
MEALS
All children will be provided with well-balanced meals while in my care. I offer a well balanced lunch and 2 snacks as well as milk and water throughout the day. I will do my best to cater to allergies and food sensitivities, however, my home is NOT nut free.
Children will never be forced to finish a meal, however, they will all be encouraged to try everything.
TOILET TRAINING
I am more than happy to provide assistance with toilet training for any child, provided they are ready.
ILLNESS POLICY
It is imperative that I am able to provide all of the children with a thriving environment in which to grow. In the best interest of all of the children, if any child is showing symptoms of illness, they will not be permitted at the dayhome. Please do not bring your child to the dayhome if they are displaying any of the following:
· A temperature of 101F or higher
· Diarrhea
· Vomiting
· Any contagious illness including measles, mumps, chicken pox, rubella or pertussis
· Pink Eye
· Rashes that you cannot identify
· Impetigo
· Ear, throat or other infections
Common colds and/or flus are common amongst children sharing close knit environments. I will take every precaution to avoid the spread of the common cold and/or flu virus, however, runny noses are inevitable.
The #1 way to reduce the spread of germs is by thorough and frequent hand washing. I require hand washing before and after eating, upon returning from an outing (playground) and after toileting. Play areas and toys are cleaned frequently and I use high quality Essential Oils in my prevention methods.
BEHAVIOR AND DISCIPLINE
Children need to be treated with patience, consistency, courtesy, respect and positive reinforcement. I believe in positive discipline and not punishment. I encourage the children to use their manners as well as to be kind and respectful of others. If a child is showing inappropriate behavior they will be redirected to another activity and reminded of better choices. Generally redirection is very effective. If redirection isn't working in a particular situation a
time-out may be given. Almost always one minute per year of age, not to exceed ten minutes and the child will not be left unattended. If a child's behavior becomes an issue and interferes with the other children's well being I will address it with the parents and we will try to resolve it together.
